AMWU Members should get their membership fees refunded

The Australian Manufacturing Worker’s Union last night launched the single weakest advertising campaign in the history of the trade union movement.

The ad features a softly spoken man saying that Australia manufactures a range of products, that manufacturers need government investment and that union members should contact their local MPs offices to remind them of how much they need their jobs.

The advertisement is just a gentle whisper to government that manufacturing is out there and wants to continue. It is very weak.

Any self respecting union should demand a meeting with the woman whose job they are protecting at the expense of their members.

The carbon tax will see factories across Australia close and will see jobs exported. Global emissions will increase as countries with weaker environmental laws become Australia’s suppliers of products we used to make.

“Hard working union members should demand their money back from the AMWU because they shouldn’t have to pay to be told: ‘go and see your local member’. These faceless men who put Gillard into her job should beat a path to her door and demand that she stop this job destroying tax,” said Shadow Minister for Innovation, Industry and Science.
