Carr’s NBN Blunder

Kim Carr is not only a political Neanderthal, he confuses billions with millions. Not content with hopelessly managing his own portfolio, he has now extended this incompetence to Stephen Conroy’s portfolio. In announcing yesterday the NBN Co’s equipment contracts he managed to get billions mixed up with millions.
Well known for mishandling his own multi billion dollar portfolio, Carr issued a press release stating that the NBN Co had signed contracts creating 400 jobs at a cost of $1.6 million. The correct figure for the contracts was $1.6 billion.
"Carr’s incompetence almost makes Stephen Conroy look competent," said Mrs Mirabella.
"Minister Conroy probably really needed a break and some time off to recuperate from a harrowing year of defending the indefensible National Broadband Network and Carr has let him down, getting basic numbers wrong," Mrs Mirabella said.
"Carr’s innumeracy compounds his obvious inability as a senior minister. It is time Gillard had the guts to rid herself of this innumerate dinosaur," she concluded.
