TRUCKIES SAY NO TO RUTHLESS ROBOTIC MACHINE MEN
25-July-2011
Truck transport workers and truck owner-drivers all around Australia have joined the chorus that the Gillard Government is incompetent and unworthy of office, as the “detested class of ruthless, robotic machine men” of the Labor Party continue their carbon tax carnage.
The National Secretary of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), Tony Sheldon, has accused the Government of failing to implement Labor policy and endangering the lives of truck drivers.
Mr Sheldon likened Senator Evans, Minister for Workplace Relations, to the corpse in the movie Weekend at Bernie’s, unable to act or perform his duties.
The TWU has been campaigning vigorously that by putting a carbon tax on diesel fuel without Safe Rates in place, hard working Australian families, already on the edge, will be punished.
The Gillard Government is also under attack from the National Road Freighter’s Association (NRFA), which is planning a “convoy of no-confidence in the Federal Government”.
According the NRFA the carbon tax will be the straw that breaks the camels back for Australia’s forgotten truck owner-drivers.
The NRFA have already confirmed eight separate convoys that will converge on Parliament House on 22 August. Observers are predicting the convoy will rival the Razorback Blockade of 1979.
One owner-driver, Troy ‘Grover’ Logan, is taking the extreme measure of walking from Albury to Parliament House with his arrival coinciding with the No Carbon Tax National Protest Rally on 16 August at which time he plans to hand a petition to Tony Abbott.
Ms Gillard must listen to the people, say no to the Labor Party machine men, and axe the toxic carbon tax.
