ANOTHER MANUFACTURER CLOSES AS TOXIC GOVERNMENT SITS IDLY BY
07-July-2011
Today’s announcement of the closure of Cement Australia’s manufacturing facility at Kandos follows closures of smaller manufacturers who faced increased costs and government regulation.
The Coalition has repeatedly warned that this Government’s policies will push manufacturers over the edge only to be greeted by arrogant disregard by the Prime Minister.
Many manufacturers operate on very thin margins because the regulatory and policy environment is so bad at the moment.
What has happened to Cement Australia at Kandos mirrors the kinds of problems that many small manufacturers are already experiencing with government regulation and policy adding to their cost of production. And the carbon tax would further add to these costs, forcing many of them to close.
This will have a disastrous impact on the whole community at Kandos.
This Government simply does not understand manufacturing and how they are continually undermining and threatening the viability of Australian businesses.
Other Australian world class plants with industry leading efficiency are also in danger of closing with the continuing cost pressures of government regulations and the carbon tax.
