HOW MANY JOBS WILL BE LOST DUE TO TOXIC TAX?
16-June-2011
If the Prime Minister refuses to promise that no job will be lost under the carbon tax, she must come clean on how many jobs will be lost.
Labor backbencher Stephen Jones, the Member for Throsby, has spilled the beans when he said:
“It was unrealistic to expect that not one job will be lost”
This directly conflicts Paul Howes’, the National Secretary of The Australian Workers' Union, demand that not a single job is to be lost as a result of the carbon tax?
The Gillard Government is reported to be considering a major assistance package for the steel industry and bailouts for manufacturing regions as part of the carbon tax compensation package.
Where is the compensation for glass factories, food manufacturers, textile and fashion businesses, plastics and chemicals manufacturers, aluminium manufacturers, cement manufacturers and all businesses in downstream supply chains?
Where is the compensation for the steel fabricating business that employs twenty-five Australian workers?
How are families, wanting to build their houses from Australian steel, going to be compensated?
The Government can’t guarantee that jobs won’t be lost.
The only way to prevent job losses is to axe the carbon tax.
