SOPHIE SPEAKS AT ANTI CARBON TAX RALLY

31-March-2011

Today, thousands of Australians descended on the lawns of Parliament House to make their voices heard against Labor’s Carbon Tax. Instead of listening to them, the Government arrogantly ridiculed them in Question Time.
“The Government is trying to bully those who disagree with them into silence, by branding them as extremists,” said Sophie Mirabella MP, Federal Member for Indi.
“These people are ordinary Australians who are struggling with the cost of living and are frightened about losing their jobs and consigning factories to fields of tumble weeds.
“The Australian people will not be silenced by a Government which is desperate to save one job, the Prime Minister’s job, while tens of thousands of Australians lose theirs as this carbon tax puts pressures on families and businesses alike.”
At the rally Mrs Mirabella encouraged all Australians to speak their minds and never to be intimidated by a government that thinks they know best.
“Even if there is a change of Government at the next election, the introduction of a carbon tax in the meantime would export jobs further increase the cost of living,” Mrs Mirabella said.
That is why people power and the voice of the Australian people must be heard until Julia Gillard listens to common sense,” Mrs Mirabella concluded.
