RED TAPE AND HIGH COSTS HIGH ON THE AGENDA
18-March-2011
Sophie Mirabella MP, Federal Member for Indi has completed her first tour of the Murrindindi Shire.
Sophie Mirabella and Cindy McLeish MP, State Member for Seymour, spent 3 days speaking with residents about local concerns and challenges.
“The electorate tour was a fantastic opportunity for me to talk directly with local people and get a real understanding of the challenges facing the people of Murrindindi,” said Mrs Mirabella.
“There is obviously still a lot of work to be done with the bushfire recovery. If there is one thing that Governments at all levels can do to help, it’s reducing red tape and regulation. Time and time again, I heard the same message; people just want to get on with re-building, they are sick of unreasonable regulation and simply want to get on with the job.
“The other concern that kept coming back to me was the cost of living. People are struggling to cope with rising energy bills, grocery prices and general living costs and they are very concerned about Labor’s new Carbon Tax.
Mrs Mirabella said that anyone who missed speaking with her during the electorate tour should feel free to contact her office at any time.
“I will be visiting the Murrindindi region regularly, but I would encourage everyone to contact my office at any stage if they have concerns I can assist with,” Mrs Mirabella concluded.
