CANCER CENTRE-CREAN COULDN’T CARE LESS

05-November-2010

Friday November 5th
While in the region yesterday, the Minister for Regional Development, Simon Crean passed an aside comment about the hope of a border cancer clinic.
Member for Indi, Sophie Mirabella said she was disgusted at the callous way Mr. Crean wrote off the bid for a Border Cancer Clinic as being too expensive.
Our region has a need for these services that will only grow.
When the Govt can spend millions of dollars on school halls and a fraudulent pink bat schemes, one would have hoped they would have set aside money for a critical health services.
Perhaps they have squandered billions on mismanaged programs and have run out of money
Mrs. Mirabella said “Local doctors and supporters worked hard to put the proposal together and for him to dismiss the idea saying “I think they’ve learned their lesson” is totally insensitive to the needs of regional cancer patients”
Mrs. Mirabella concluded by pointing out that in a moment of rare candour, Mr. Crean’s dismissive arrogance just goes to show that the Labor Party don’t really care about rural and regional Australians
