FLOOD DAMAGED MYRTLEFORD

The Member for Indi, Mrs. Sophie Mirabella today inspected several locations in and around Myrtleford.
This follows an aerial inspection of the North East earlier this week.

She spoke with residents and business owners about specific issues that have helped them and troubled them during the floods.

Mrs. Mirabella said “It was important to see first hand, the flood’s impact and then hear from affected community members

“A wide range of issues were brought to my attention including appropriate flood mitigation, infrastructure repairs, clean up requirements and insurance issues”, she said.

Mrs. Mirabella also inspected the diversion Channel funded by the Howard Government in 2004.

“My job now”, she said, “is to work with local government and the community in ensuring the best possible outcome for those affected by the floods and to look at further mitigation programs to minimise future damage to homes and infrastructure.”
