Sophie announces over $1 million for Upper Hume Community Health Mental Illness Unit

Federal Liberal Member for Indi, Mrs Sophie Mirabella MP today had great pleasure in announcing $1,339,890 in funding for the Upper Hume Community Health Service Inc.

Mrs Mirabella gave special mention to Loretta Foster, the Manager of the Mental Health Unit at the Upper Hume Community Health Service for her hard work and dedication.

“It gives me great pleasure to announce Federal Funding of over $1 million for the new site for the Personal Helpers and Mentors program (PHaMs),” Mrs Mirabella said.

“The PHaMs program provides a new opportunity for government and the non-government sector to work together to provide innovative assistance for people who lives are severely affected by mental illness.”

“Mental Illness is an issue and problem that affects so many families within communities in the North-East. It is an issue that our society must deal with and deal with together,” Mrs Mirabella said.

“This funding will go towards achieving that goal of giving those with mental health problems and their loved ones a happier life with more opportunities.”

“I would like to publicly thank CEO Lennard Peady and Mental Health Manager Loretta Foster and her team at the Hume Community Health Service in Wodonga for the support and assistance they so generously provide to those in our community who suffer with mental health illness,” Mrs Mirabella said.

“I will continue to lobby hard for Federal funding of vital local services in the North-East. These local services provide so much support for our community and the Government’s continued support.”
