ANOTHER DESPERATE LABOR LIE

16-August-2010

The scare campaign of the state and federal Labor parties in the lead up to Saturday’s election is just showing how desperate they are becoming, Federal Member for Indi, Sophie Mirabella said.

“It is false that the Liberals intend reneging on either contracts that have been already signed or positive health programs,” Mrs Mirabella said.

“Unlike Labor we don’t tear up contracts that have already been awarded, signed and sealed with projects ready to be delivered.

“At the weekend, Victorian Health Minister, Daniel Andrews, falsely claimed an Abbott-led government would cut health funding in Victoria. This is almost word for word the same release as Roxon’s false release of a couple of weeks ago.

“The Liberal Party has already said it will honour the 36 GP Super Clinics already announced by Labor, it will honour the funding for project such as the Wangaratta Hospital upgrade and will actually build on that funding.

“As a case in point, the Wodonga GP Super Clinic has already started the ball rolling, it has secured its site, and it’s looking at commencing work in October.

“Those aren’t the actions of an organisation that feels threatened by a Coalition government.

“In contrast, after the 2007 election, the Rudd Labor Government tore up an already signed and sealed contract with the OPEL consortium which was ready to deliver high speed, quality broadband, it threw in the bin hundreds of contracts for Regional Partnerships programs, leaving rural communities with nothing and didn’t even bother to apologise.

“The Liberals will honour current contracts, including health contracts, and for the Labor Health Ministers – State and Federal – to say any different show them up as the sham they are.”
