LABOR LIES TO COUNTRY VICTORIANS

Yesterday’s release of the Auditor General’s report into Labor’s irrigation efficiency program proves that the figures used to justify the North South Pipeline are a con.
“This scheme is a white elephant and the State Labor Government has been sneaky and untruthful with the Victorian people,” Federal Member for Indi, Sophie Mirabella said.
“The report is damning of the program, it’s damning of the process and it’s damning of the Labor Government. The cost blowouts are huge, the water savings are minimal and the technology being used has not been tested.
“The figures used to justify the North South Pipeline are totally misleading. The Government has overestimated the water savings and underestimated the water losses.
“Minister Holding this morning asked the Victorian people to offer suggestions on how to save water – why didn’t the Government consult before hand?
“But this is typical of Labor Governments across the country – spend first, think later.
“And its country Victorians who again lose and pay the price for shifty Labor policies.
“Unfortunately, it’s a case of we told you so.”
Mrs Mirabella supported demands from the Victorian State Opposition for a judicial inquiry into the project.
