BRUCK RETAINED CONTRACT AFTER LABOR WAS EXPOSED AND EMBARRASSED
02-June-2010
The announcement that Bruck Textiles will retain the contract for the manufacture of camouflage material for Australia’s defence troops is no thanks to the Labor Candidate for Indi.
“During an interview with ABC Goulburn-Murray on February 10, 2010, the Labor candidate criticised me for fighting for the contract to remain in Wangaratta, with Bruck Textiles, saying:
‘…spending is spending and you know, where the dollars go is where the dollars go.’
“The only reason Bruck Textiles has retained this contract is because the Labor Government was exposed and embarrassed into ditching the China option,” Sophie Mirabella, Federal Member for Indi said.
“The Labor candidate, along with the Labor Government, was quite happy to see the fabric sourced from China, and then went on to say
‘…it appears to be purely budgetary driven.’
“The decision to keep the contract with Bruck, and in Australian hands, was a win for common sense and respect for the safety and security of our troops.
“This is just another example of the penny-pinching meanness of the Labor Party, its government and its candidates, who don’t give a damn about the end consequences.”
