LABOR CANDIDATE GETS FACTS WRONG YET AGAIN
06-May-2010
The Liberal Party in government will stop wasting taxpayers’ dollars by targeting remaining Building the Education Revolution payments directly to schools, allowing them the freedom to decide what is best for their school.
“The Labor candidate for Indi has, at best, misunderstood this or, at worst, misrepresented this direct investment, empowering local school communities,” Federal Member for Indi, Sophie Mirabella said today.
“Listening to school communities and targeting funding to their real needs is a much better way to spend the necessary dollars for school infrastructure.
“How can the Labor Government justify spending
- $950,000 on a covered learning area that cost only $70,000 six years earlier,
- $100,000 in site inspection fees,
- tens of thousands of dollars in funding for schools which already knew they would be closing, providing demountable classrooms instead of permanent structures.
“This ‘do as I say’ approach that the Rudd Labor Government has taken towards school funding is already proving to be a waste of dollars and a massive rip off.
“The Liberal Party will allow Indi schools to guide funding on their needs, giving direct community involvement and value for money, not a rushed cash splash to curry short term favour.”
