MIRABELLA WELCOMES NEW TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

12-April-2010

High end technology has come to the north east, with the official opening of the Fuji Xerox Business Centre in Wangaratta on Wednesday.

Federal Member for Indi, Sophie Mirabella, joined with staff and company representatives from Melbourne and Sydney to officially open the centre, which will provide state of the art printing and copying equipment sales and service for the region.

“The service sector is a growing industry and to be able to combine this with the ever increasing advances in technology can only be a bonus for this area,” Mrs Mirabella said.

“This new centre has already created two new positions, and the flow on effects after it becomes fully established will be enormous.

“As both the Federal Member and the Shadow Minister for Industry, Innovation, Research and Science, I am thrilled that manager Jason Anderson invited me to the opening.

“This is a company that has ploughed billions of dollars into research and development and to see them represented in Wangaratta is fantastic.

“This is an excellent example of how a technology business can see and utilise the potential of rural Victoria.”

While on site, Mrs Mirabella was given a demonstration of the new printing technologies the company has developed, as well as a tour of the premises and an explanation of the various new and emerging technologies.

“I congratulate the Schurig family who have seen the potential for this business in Wangaratta, as well as the management and staff, and the company representatives who took the time to support the owners, their staff and the town,” Mrs Mirabella said.
